Q. Am I guaranteed a trial by jury if I am accused of a crime?
A. By virtue of the Bill of Rights, every person accused of a crime that goes to trial has the right to have a trial by a jury made up of his or her peers. The accused is given the choice of choosing between a trial by jury or a bench trial (a trial where a judge hands down the verdict).
